Dear cousins:

I am still trying to place my Elizabeth Clayton in Bell's "History of the
Claytons of Monmouth Co NJ." She was born 9 Dec 1792 in NJ, and married
Joseph Applegate in Monmouth Co NJ on 8 Nov 1818. Since Elizabeth's son
named one of his sons DAVID CLAYTON APPLEGATE, I am thinking that Elizabeth
may descend from one of the many David Claytons in Monmouth County.

I have narrowed my search down to two possible David Claytons, but Bell does
not list the children for either one. Do any of you have a list of children
for either of the following:

1. David Clayton, s/o John and Catharine Clayton.
Born about 1733 Shrewsbury-Monmouth-NJ
Married Mary Scothorn 6 Apr 1759
Had at least 2 children, David and John. (Does anyone know the names of
other children? How about names of children for the two sons, David and
John?)

2. David Clayton, s/o David Clayton and Rebecca Taylor
Born about 1750, NJ
Married Rebecca _______about 1775, NJ
Had at least five children--anyone know the names? How about the names
of David's brother's children? (i.e. the children of Cornelius, John,
Jonathan, Thomas and Joseph?)
