Seeking ancestors of James G.W. Clayton who married Elizabeth ? in TN.
He was said to have come from SC and was a cobbler. He migrated to Texas
with Impresario Stephen F. Austin. He received a league and labor of land
in Angelina County, Tx through a land grant. He also had holdings in Wise
County, TX. His children were Mary, Joseph William and William Austin.
Mary married Marshall Walker. Joseph married Mary Elizabeth Borden. William
married Mary Ann Lucretia Ellis.
