Surname: Ewing, Clayton
-------------------------

James,

It will take a few days before I can put all I know together and send it
to you. There has been real confusion among my fellow Ewing and Oldshoe/Oldshire
researchers as to what Sarah's maiden name was. Some of Sarah's daughter
Elizabeth descendants thought that Sarah's maiden name was Sutton but they
always ran into a brick wall on that name. It wasn't until my Ewing cousin,
Gerald Ewing, pointed out my great-grandfather's, Albert Clayton Ewing,
middle name was in honor of his mother's family that anything started to
make sense.

I will work on getting you more ASAP.

Steve Ewing

Here is a copy of a records lookup a lady in Perry County did for me on
my great and great-great-grandparents:

Steven: I have the following Ewings in the Shawnee Cemetery (Coal and Salt
Lick Twp. Cemetery Book):

Ewing, Albert C. 1869 - 1928

Ewing, Corporal Albert, Co. K, 97 Ohio Inf, GAR 1861- 1865 (apparently
no
other dates on the stone; this can't obviously be the same Albert listed
above)

Ewing, Rose 1875 - 1953
-------------------------------------------------
The following Ewings are listed in the Perry Co. Death Records:

Ewing, Albert: Male, White, Widowed; died 14 Mar 1905, age 73y 5m 11d;
place of death - Shawnee, OH; place of birth - Shawnee, OH; occupation
-
miner; cause of death - cancer.

Ewing, Sarah M.: Female, White, Married; died 30 Mar 1884, age 46y; place
of death - Shawnee; place of birth - Muskingum Co.; no occupation listed;
cause of death - cancer.

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I have been recuperating
from
orthopedic surgery.

Brenda Van Dyke

And this is from one of Elizabeth's descendants:

Hi Cousin Steve

I have been looking around since my sister saw your query and I have found
where this one family has a Sarah M. Clayton b. 1839 which is about when
I thought she was born but that was all that they had on her in there query
but it does show a sister by the name of Lucy Clayton which made me wonder
and look back at some notes that my grandmother had talking about her mothers
great aunt Lucy George and I found where a Lucy E. Clayton married a John
W George on April 18, 1853. So I bet that your guess was correct.

I have been looking to send you a picture that I have showing Alice Ewing
but I have been unable to find it may take a while but if you want it I
will send it to you. I will also send you GEDCOM file with alot of the
information sometime this week hopefully

Talk with you latter
