This Clayton line is from the High Peak District of Derbyshire. Joel's
father, John Clayton, was born in 1785 and his ancestors are unknown.
John's mother, Mary Atherton was only briefly married to a Dr. Samuel
Clayton. The given names I listed in my last email were Bate family names,
Joel Clayton's mother was Mary Bate. I would be interested if you think you
are descended from this line. The Clayton Historical Society is very
interested in keeping track of the descendents of John and Mary Bate Clayton
