Dear List,
Further research, actually it just dawned on me, has revealed to me some possible mistakes in information.
The following is an excerpt from an email I just sent my contact in Saline C., Ill.
Perhaps someone out there can help me make head or tails out of this information.
Thanks,
Randy Hughes

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just realized that we are probably NOT talking about the same Elizabeth Frances Clayton.
After going back through some emails, it jumped out at me that the dates and ages are not close enough to be the same person.
Example;
Elizabeth was born in 1827 in Hardeman Co., TN.
In your previous message, you quote 1870 Saline Co., Ill. census data as;
"Elizabeth was listed as 55, keeping house and an illiterate Tennessee native. Her household include Alexander, 23, at home; James R., 22, at home; and Thomas, 16; at home, ...."
in the 1870, she would have only been 43 years old.
Example;
Elizabeth F. Clayton b. 1827 in Hardeman Co TN, married William Ferdinand Joyce b 1831. They married 14 Jan 1852 in Lawrence Co TN.
Children listed of Elizabeth and William were;
1. James H. Joyce b 1854 Lawrence Co TN
2. Nancy A b 1856
3. George W. Joyce b 1858 Law. Co TN
the children's names do not match.
I appreciate your efforts!!!
But, it just dawned on me that this might just be coincidental information.
Thanks again,
Randall Hughes
