To the person with the query about WHITE/CLEVELAND/BRYCE/GRAY surnames:

I am also researching the WHITE/CLEVELAND surnames. Do you know if the
ones you are researching had roots or family in Hart, Elbert, or
Franklin Counties, GA? These counties in Georgia are just across the
Savannah River and the now Lake Hartwell from the places that you
mention that your WHITEs and CLEVELANDs were. Many people did migrate
to and fro across the Savannah during that time.

My g-grandfather, Peter James WHITE married Ophelia CLEVELAND (both born
in Georgia around 1855 =/-) in Elbert County, GA. in 1872. Parts of
Elbert Co. later became Hart County, and my people are shown as living
there later (I also grew up in Hart Co., GA.); and many are still there
today.

My search for information for the present is more focused on, but not
exclusive to Ophelia CLEVELAND. I know more about Peter WHITE than she,
but would still appreciate any information on the WHITEs as well.

If you think there could be a connection, please e-mail me at the above
address.

Thank you!
E.S. LEWIS in SC

I am working on my husband's genealogy and subscribed to
this list just recently and I am looking forward to learning
a lot about his family while his grandparents are still
alive to share it with.
My husband's gr-gr-grandfather was Thomas Milton CLEVELAND,
born 1850 in SC. He moved to Texas and married Mary Susan
GREY in Panola County, TX, in 1872. They had 12 children,
all born in East Texas.
Thomas Milton's parents were Jonathan Reeder CLEVELAND and
Elizabeth BRYCE. They were married 1847 in Pickens
District, SC. Elizabeth's parents were Thomas BRYCE and
Mahala WHITE.
Jonathan Reeder Cleveland's parents were Eli Cleveland and
Mary REEDER. They were married in Pendleton District, but I
don't have a marriage date.
I have the Cleveland ancestors from the 1899 book, but I
would love to know more about the GREY, BRYCE, WHITE, and
REEDER families.

Sincerely,
Brenda Parker
Houston, TX
