Thanks very much for your help.

John - I have checked the IGI again and have found a William Barkell born in
Marytavy, Devon in 1800 - as Barkell is quite a rare name I believe this
could be the William I have been searching for. Thanks for the tip.

Doris - Unfortunately the census information you gave me was not that of my
family, as Jane was Richard's mother, not his daughter. Thanks for thinking
of me though.

One last request - does anyone have access to the 1841 and/or 1851 British
census? I wondered if anyone could do a look up for me, and it might
establish whether or not my William Barkell was actually born in Devon.
Searching for a William Barkell (born c. 1800), Jane Barkell (born c. 1800)
and their sons Richard Barkell (born 1827, Mold, Wales) and John Barkell
(born 1833, Mold, Wales).
