Subject: [CO-CEMETERIES] Cemetery Lookup? Mary PAINTER
My "brick wall" has been Mary Elizabeth PAINTER, my great great grandmother.
After years of searching, an elderly relative has assured me that Mary died
at Lamar, Prowers, Colorado. I have found Mary in the 1900 Census for Greene
County, Missouri, so I know she will not show up in Colorado Census records
until at least 1910, perhaps 1920. The 1900 Census says she was born April
1853. Her death date is unknown, but I suspect she died before 1920. Mary's
maiden name was MONTGOMERY. She married Eli Jacob PAINTER 12-10-1871 in
Greene County, Missouri. I have a photograph of her that says her name was
"Polly." I assume that to be a nickname. Even though, Polly may be the name
used in Census records. Her children were ... Laura, Didama, Ida, Nola,
Artie, Kenneth, Nellie, Sterling, Cleo, and Jettie. I am hoping to learn her
death date and burial location. Any information about her at all will be
extremely helpful! Her daughter, Laura, is buried not far from Lamar at Las
Animas in Bent County. This is one more reason to believe that Mary
Elizabeth
PAINTER will be found buried in this community.
Thanks so much for any help!
