Hello Joyce,

Found this in the 1880, although indexed as Baldant, it does read Baldauf.

BALDANT, FRANK (1880 U.S. Census)
COLORADO , GUNNISON, 3-PCT
Age: 40, Race: WHITE, Born: AUST
Series: T9 Roll: 90 Page: 113

All and their parents born Tyroll (Austria)
Dwelling 255, families are not listed with them. Perhaps they are indexed
sep.

Frank Baldlauf, w, m, 40, M, Smelter Hand
Peter " , w, m, 45, M, Lode Miner
John Smith , w, m, 25, S, "
