Hi Faye,

I have to agree with John. The laws regarding eligibility are pretty
stringent to the point that at one time I remember that it was very difficult
for a miner with black lung to get benefits himself because there weren't
many doctors outside the mining areas who could diagnose the syndrome
properly. But it must be the miner who has worked for a certain number of
years and came down with the disease. I believe I understood that your
father is still alive. If so, and if your mother outlives him, she would
then apply right away for widow's benefits which is 50% of your dad's
allotment.
