Subject: Movement out of schuylkill county pa
Date: Sun, 5 Dec 1999 20:20:12 EST
This is in response to Joe Kelly's question about people moving out of
Schuylkill County, Pa, in the 1870's.
Have any of you seen this wonderful website?

It's Munsell's 1881 History of Schuylkill County, a book whose contents are
entirely online... There are a few wonderful chapters on the "great
depression in all manufacturing industries" in 1874 that struck the area.
This info can be found in Chapter V, at the URL:

I have ancestors who left Pottsville, Schuylkill County, that year, and moved
to Trenton, NJ, and I'm guessing that this is why. Joe, where did yours move
to? I hope the above book is helpful for you!
