SENATOBIA - Edna Boone Carpenter, 75, retired Northeast Junior College and
Senatobia School System teacher after 38 years, died of heart failure Friday
at Broadmoor Health Care Center in Meridian.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Senatobia,
where she taught Sunday school for 30 years, with burial in Bethesda
Cemetery. C. O. Pate Funeral Home has charge. She was a graduate of Delta
State University and Mississippi State University and attended George Peabody
College and University of Mississippi in Oxford. She was a member of Delta
Kappa Gamma, Mississippi Professional Educators, Mumbling Mums, Cosmopolitan
Club and United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was also a recipient of the
Senatobia Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellow Award. Mrs. Carpenter, the widow of
Howard Carpenter, to whom she was married for 53 years,, leaves three
daughters, Miriam Chesney of Meridian, Sheron Coats of Iuka and Carolyn
Spraberry of Southaven; two sons, Tommy Carpenter of Hernando and Van
Carpenter of Kossuth; a sister, Jewell Colson of Greenwood; two brothers, Roy
Boone of Cleveland and Hiram Boone of Isola, and eight grandchildren.
