This from CO Genealogical Chronicles, V. 15, Combined
Clear Creek Co. CO 1885 State Census, Steve and Merle
Utter, Foothills Genealogical Society, 1994, Pg. 33 (of
publication), Pg. 27 (of film), Enumeration District # 1, June 1st,

actual census film and the country census book):

KELTON (film) KITTOR (co. census book)
Hi Jack,

Thank you for that look up! Indeed those folks are my KITTO family. Isn't it
amazing how enumerators and subsequent transcribers make a name evolve!

I am seeking confirmation that this family was in Colorado between
(approximately) 1869 and 1872:
Joseph Martin (b. 1846, Cornwall, England)
Elizabeth (nee Stephens) Martin (b. 1851, Hazel Green, Wisconsin)
Thomas H. Martin (b. 1868, Eagle River, Michigan)
Elizabeth Martin (abt. 1871, Colorado)
While I don't know where in Colorado, I suspect it may have been Idaho
Springs, Clear Creek County, because these KITTO folks can be placed there ... KITTO
was Elizabeth's mother's maiden name. They may have also been in Gilpin
County or Pueblo or Gothic, Gunnison since KITTO family can be placed in those
locations too. The extended family tended to move to places together.

Joseph emigrated from Cornwall in about 1848 or 49 with his parents, but I
don't know where they settled, and again, I suspect it may have been Colorado
somewhere:
Thomas Martin (b. 1815 Camborne, Cornwall, England)
Mary (nee Kirby) Martin (b. 1814 Camborne, Cornwall, England)
Joseph Martin (same as above) (b. 1846, Cornwall, England)
I would be eager to take any direction in researching Colorado records that
might help nail these ancestors.

Thank you again,

Amy Goodman
