Denver was the County Seat of Arapahoe County until 1902. The city actually
separated it's government from Arapahoe County in 1901, but the state
government didn't recognize the new county charter until 1902 when it became
the City & County of Denver. In fact, the state declared the charter
unconstitutional in 1901.
