Greetings to all the Coffman researchers,
I just signed into this list yesterday and I am so pleased to get my first
message saying that someone has a copy of David Coffman's will. Please do
post it as it would be of interest to me. I have known where it can be
found but have never gotten around to trying to obtain a copy. (filed Mar.
3, 1835, Limestone Co., AL, Will Book 4, page 477) I would love to read
it. I am currently following this line in order to become a member of the
DAR. Any Coffman research from this line would be most appreciated by me.
I am descended from David Coffman Sr. as follows:
Son: Jacob Marion Coffman & wife Nancy Walker
Grandson: James Marion Coffman & wife Ann Elizabeth Robinson
Great Grandson: James H. Coffman & Mary Elizabeth Norman
Gr-Great Grandson: James Reuben Coffman & Ella Lee
Gr-Gr Granson: Leecil Horace Coffman & Dora Bunt
I am especially interested in any documents that pertain to James H.
Coffman and/or his wife. Mary died when James Reuben was very young
(before 1872) and he was raised by his older sister in what is now Camp
County, Texas. I am having difficulty finding any document that puts James
Reuben with his parents. I have found a Land Patent Report from Washington
County, Arkansas that says he purchased land there in 1857. I also found
his marriage record in the same county just one year before (1856), but
they do not appear there on the 1860 Census. If anyone has run across his
name or his wifes' name in there research I would be greatful for the
info. Mary was from Bedford Co., Tenn.
I have alot of information on other branches of this family with lists of
resources. If anyone is missing information on this line, I might be able
to help.
