I tried the look up service offered by the DAR--family history said my
gggg-grandfather was buried as a Revolionary War Hero in Pennsylvania. In
about 4 hours I had an answer from the DAR,and sure enough, he had fought in
the War--they confirmed the name of his spouse as well as service--pretty
neat!! ( Tried one of my husbands forebears, but came up 0--they said this
didn't mean he didn't serve, it just meant that no one has applied to belong
to DAR using his service record.) Ah well, one success in 2 tries is really
good odds with clues I think!
Wanted to add also, I have received several records from the State of
Colorado this week (death cert. and marriage records)--of all the places I
send for records,Colorado is definately the most obliging, and they have
never taken more than a week to respond--Kudo's to Colorado! It certainly
makes my record compling easier to get this kind of service!
Janet
