I have a marriage date for Farish Coleman and Elizabeth Camp- March 29,
1798, Culpepper Co.VA.
I do not have a birth date for Rebecca, but it would be fair to estimate
1799-1803. She was probably under 21 at her marriage date.
According to “Kentucky Ancestry” by Roseann Reinemuth Hogan, early Kentucky
marriage seekers have to turn back to Virginia for the laws applying to
marriages, as Kentucky followed the same regulations.
MARRIAGE BOND. This is a document that proves to the court that there is no
legal reason or cause that the marriage can’t take place. If you find a
bond, this doesn’t mean that a marriage followed. Women, had no legal rights
during the early days, and a marriage contract could NOT be arranged by the
bride. Records of marriage bonds sometimes include the parents' consent to
the marriage if the bride or groom was a minor.
CONSENT FORM. These will be found on individuals who were under the age of
21. It was usually a “loose” paper, and filed with the other marriage
documents. The person who signed the consent was to indicate relationship to
the bride or groom.

There was a Farish Coleman from Caroline Co.,VA. He first married his
cousin Ann Coleman, and 2nd married Catherine Rogers ca1790. Farish d.1811,
Caroline Co.,VA. Farish was the s/o Thomas Coleman and Sarah Farish.
Catherine was the d/o William Rogers and Lucy Farish. How's that for a
confusing line?
