I'm trying to locate and identify a Robert Coleman of South Carolina,
county unknown, who bonded my great-great grandfather, Dio Cleason
Robertson, born February 7, 1804, in South Carolina, county unknown, to him
through the courts. Dio Cleason, orphaned at an early age, reportedly
lived with Coleman until he was 21 years old at which time, pursuant to
South Carolina law concerning bonded children, he was given a horse,
saddle, bridle, and $21. Theirs apparently was an amiable relationship as
Dio Cleason named one of his sons after Coleman.

It is most probable that Robert Coleman lived in a county bordering North
Carolina inasmuch as Dio Cleason met and married his wife, Elizabeth Carr,
who was born in North Carolina, in about 1826.

Thanks to anyone who can offer help.

Bob
