I too am looking for information about my Squier family. Here's what I know: My middle name is Squier, as is my father's and his father. Our middle name is after James Jordan Squier who was born in Washington, Co. Pennsylvania in 1836 and died in Kansas City, MO in 1900. His father was Albert Squier. Albert Squier moved to Cumberland, OH. JJ Squier's only son died, so there were no male heirs. Therefore our middle name remains Squier in the tradition of the first son of the first son, etc.
