Please don't take offense, my comments were directed at the person
questioning why they were receiving mail about the WPA.  This list is
certainly in need of some waking up and I would be the last to argue
with some much needed discussion.

I have no interest in the SLV genealogically, my husband and I run
all the Valley web sites out of a sense of gratitude for help that
we've received on our genealogies from other volunteers around the
country.  Our sites are a labor of love and we will continue to
provide as much local SLV info as possible as long as we are in the
area.

This list is, if everyone is not already aware, no longer affiliated
with the Genweb or any other organization.  Dan and I are
independently setting these County sites up.  You will not find our
info on Genweb sites.  We have many philisophical differences with
the Genweb and we want to make clear that we are in no way affiliated
with that organization.  And...we would appreciate a heads up from
anyone who finds our work on a Genweb site, we have had a problem in
the past with our work being taken and used on a Genweb site.  We
would caution all of you to be careful what you supply that
organization.  There are many liberties that they can take with your
info and while they say that your info will remain free for all, that
does not mean that it will not end up on a cd somewhere, making a
profit for Ancestry and Rootsweb. What we've done and allowed Genweb
to do with our sites, is to link to our info, but we have not been
taken up on that offer and....that speaks volumes about what they are
trying to accomplish.

We live in the valley and have made many contacts and spent long
hours crawling through cemeteries, libraries, historical museums and
many other resources trying to supply much needed genealogical info
for people who will never have an opportunity to get to this area.

Sorry to get on a soapbox, but we really wanted to make it clear that
we are in no way affiliated with any organization.
