For the year most printers are under warranty I
wouldn't recommend them. And for the price of
most printer cartridges, one might want to weigh
the cost of a new printer against the cost of the
cartridges if the refillable items don't work. I
think many printers now are sold very cheaply to
ring people into the replacement cartridge
purchases. I don't refill because I really don't
like the mess. But I also am quicker to save to
CDRs and simply not print items these days. I
don't like filing hard copies, the computer drives
(now almost always very large) and CDRs are nicer
to deal with and they can be searched which makes
them even friendlier than digging through piles of
papers.
