A new source document - at STDL -

Over the last several years, some material has been gathered regarding the
farmplaces that were displaced because of the tollway acquisitions through
the Northern portion of Schaumburg Township. This is the second time that I
am trying to send this to THE LIST and will have to send it in several
sections because of its length. The first time there was a failure because
of its length. The document now resides at the STDL in the Reference area
and is NOT to be CIRCULATED. You can, however, make photocopies of the
material.

The information contained in this collection has been gleaned from a page by
page reading of each legal transaction pertaining to each of the
acquisitions from records held by the Illinois Department of Transportation
before they disposed of the records. The original documents ARE NO LONGER
AVAILABLE, so please do not expect to find them. We were fortunate that we
have BOLD researchers in our group who had the FORESIGHT to ASK for access
to the records. The timing could not have been more puuuurrrrfect! Thank you
to BC.

The result of this 140 hour effort - reading these documents, identifying,
indexing and copying them is in SEVEN semi-bound books which can be copied.
Although most of the source documents were of good quality, there are some
that are very marginal..... Still, the information that you may find for
your family will be of interest and if you are fortunate to have a parcel
with photographs, you will be very pleased.

There are maps that illustrate the area of interest. The area begins on the
west end of the township, actually at Rt31 in ELGIN and to the East to East
of RT53 in Elk Grove VIllage. The maps show the township lines, section
lines, small drawings of the farmplace buildings, and PARCEL number.
SOmetimes they also show the names of the owners but this information is
also on the legal document.

In addition to the legal information, which is filled with a lot of
genealogy data, there are PHOTOGRAPHS of the farmplaces which were used in
determining VALUE. These are printed in the books in TWO places. One
location is within the actual parcel area and one is in a special
photographic section.

As you proceed through the books, the PARCEL NUMBERS are the key.
If you have further questions pertaining to this material, please write to
THE LIST.

A surname index will follow this email throughout the next day or two.
The listing covers ALL of the names that are identified in ANY of the
transactions, not just those that farmed on the property. Although the index
does not bring you to the PAGE of interest, it does bring you to the PARCEL
of interest.

The surname index will also show location/address of the individual, little
memo material and Parcel Number (unless of course this is the true reason
why my original mailing failed....)!
