It sounds as though you are *in the midst of* reading the "A"
section of the directory. The directory is broken up into 24 parts. The
way the CHS has things set up, the "A" section starts to load
automatically when you click on "Polk's Directory 1928-1929." At least
with my computer setup, I can't select any other section from the
bookmarks until the "A" section is *completely* loaded (that's about a
14 MB download). (Some other sections are even bigger.)

Once you get to the end of a section, you can only advance to the
next page by selection the next section from the bookmarks on the left.
