Hello list,

I noticed the thread on the Census and wondered if anyone knew when the Census stopped doing a door to door survey and started to do random sampling - if that was the case. I was alive for the 1970,80,90, and 2000 Census and know for a fact that my family was not listed. We lived in a major metropolitan city so it was very easy to find us. As there is no census record of my living during that time period, I am sure that future family historians will encounter frustration attempting to locate myself and my family.

Was my family just one that fell between the cracks all those times? Or was this the norm. I too am having problems locating family members in census despite spelling variations and just wondered when census became less inclusive than the earlier ones.

best wishes,

Stephen
