Hi List,
Last summer a distant cousin and I hit the jackpot with church records. She went to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Richton Park and asked about church records for our Tobeck relatives. She not only got to see the record book, but she was also able to copy the records using their copier. As I was on a tombstone quest in Alsip, I joined her at the church as she was finishing up. We both donated $15.00 to cover the cost of the copying and as a donation. Then we went to the nearest Staples to make another set of copies for me. Later that night as I was looking through the records, I found many relatives on the other side of the family. Now, this summer I plan to go back to get the rest of the records. I had written to this church a few years ago and they sent me some of the records, but there were a few discrepencies. They had my grandfather's cousin listed as his brother and he was born 8 months after Grandpa. With the written request, I sent $10.00. I have written to 2 other chu!
rches and always sent a donation with my request. One church was able to help me and the other wasn't.
