This is strickly my opinion
Don't buy into either of them. Use your local library for Ancestry or
your local LDS. IF you really want to look at home just for census try
Godfrey.org. Cost is $35
The 1930 isn't finished for all states yet but the 1900/10/20 are
indexed. The only problem you might have-you cannot search using soundex
thru godfrey but there are other options that work just as well.

I really think using a nonprofit group like Godfrey is great. Since I
have been with them they have expanded some of their on line resources
and there is no further cost.

Check with your local library and see if you can get any of the services
at home thru you library.

Hello,

Planning to begin researching the Chicago area ancestors and hope
censuses
will be helpful. Planned to purchase one of the on-line census
programs.

Checked Ancestry.com and Geneology.com to look at their census
programs.
Both programs had trial areas where I could type in a name and obtain a
sample
copy of a census; however both programs required credit card
information to
produce this sample. Was never able to locate the charges for
Ancestry.com
and Geneology.com census programs. Genealogy.com did offer a special
"Bargain" rate of "$199" for a program which included access to the
census
information.

Would appreciate opinions from individuals who have used either of these

programs.
