I found a whole bunch of information on Holy Name that
leads me to believe you have the right church. I don't have
a specific answer, but I think between the directory entries
below, and this history from the church's web page,
http://www.holynamecathedral.org/special/tours/index.htm
you have the right place. The web page talks about different
structures over the years, so that probably explains the address
problems. In 1901 they may have been in some temporary structure.
A search of the city directories at gale shows a few
different priests living at that address over a few different
years. In 1890 they were listed at 311 Superior.
In 1910 they were listed at 30 E. Superior
This is consistant with the street number change that Judith sent
310 E. Superior converts to 29
On a present day map, 30 E. Superior looks not quite at the corner of
E. Superior and N. Wabash. 740 N. Wabash is where Thomas said the
the admin. office of the church is located. That address is at the
corner
of N. Wabash and E. Superior. So, generally it seems as
if the Cathedral of the Holy Name is the church.
If you have the name of the priest, you should be able to find out
which church he was assigned to in that year.
Here's all the listings I found -
In 1873 the church is listed - but it has no street #

so, if 266 was the rectory it seems a little odd that the church
would have an odd street number, and the rectory an even number, if
it's supposed to adjoin the church.....
but maybe there were even/odd changes between 1873 & 1890

I'm not too swift with these address changes and all, but maybe you or
someone else can put
