1. William3 Cooke I (Philip2, Richard1) was born March 27, 1613 in
Bristol, England1, and died Bef. November 10, 1679 in Surry County,
VA. He married (1) Anne. He married (2) Mary. He married (3) Mary
Blackborne June 4, 1632 in St. Augustine Parish Church, Gloucester
Co., England.

TRANSPORT ABOUT 1635." TAKEN FROM INFORMATION I FOUND IN MY
GRANDFATHER'S (ENNIS) THINGS. PAPERS WERE SENT FROM A P.H. COOK ALSO
A DESCENDANT OF WESLEY COOK.

dgvt note: Info from Tressie Cook's book called "Cook~Heard & allied
lines Barton, Bullock, Fitzpatrick & Smith" William Cooke married
several times. dgvtnote: in regards to the above: my link to William
is William jr. and since his birthdate is listed as about 1633 I am
assuming that his mother was William's first wife Mary but since he
(William sr.) married so many times and it is not known to me which
children went with which wives..I am putting them all with William jr.
on family page of William sr. and Mary. NEW I have since found out
the mother of Philip Cook was the 2nd wife of William named Anne.>

On 4 July 1635 William Cooke and his wife, Mary Blackborne, sailed
from London, England on the Transport and the record of his passage
states he was twenty years of age and a member of the Church of
England. this entry comes from The ORiginal LIsts of Persons of
Quality, 1600-1700, page 101, by John Camden Hooten. Wiilliam settled
first in Isle of Wight Co., VA and he owned land on Blackwater River.

His will was proved 9 Aug 1698 and is recorded in "Will & Deed Book 2"
page 406, Isle of Wight Co. VA. The will which was made 13 May 1696
mentions wife and unborn child. All property to wife. Overseers: "My
father William Cooke and my brother, Reuben Cooke."

6. Reuben5 Cooke (William4, William3, Philip2, Richard1) was born
1660 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, and died Bef. August 1, 1751
in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. He married Hanna Atkinson,
daughter of John Atkinson.

His will was made 19 Nov. 1750, Reubens will was probated on 1 Aug
1751 in Isle of Wight County, VA

I originally had Hanna Atkinson as Hanna Atkinson Gee... In the book
by Tressie Cook, she was listed as Hanna Atkinson so I changed it
here.

WILL IN SURRY DATED APRIL 10, 1711, AND PROBATED JUNE 20, 1711.
CHILDREN MENTIONED IN WILL WERE JOHN, HENRY, AND JOANNA. The
inventory of the estate of John Cooke is recorded in "Will and Deed
Book 1709-1715" page 71. This estate totalled in 18,985 acres and was
signed by Walton Lastley and Thomas Cotton.

HENRY COOKE ALSO HAD A SON JOHN WHO MARRIED BETTY, DAUGHTER OF BURWELL
BROWN. IN 1741, HENRY COOK DEEDED 160 ACRES OF LAND "TO MY DAUGHTER,
JANE CATOR" AND IN HIS WILL IN 1774 HE GAVE A LEGACY TO HIS GRANDSON,
STERLING CATOR. (D.B. 2-97) (W.B. 4-241. HENRY COOKE RESIDED IN
MEHERRIN PARISH AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH. HE MARRIED FOUR TIMES, FIRST
WIFE, ELIZABETH; SECOND MARY, DAUG HTER OF SAMUEL CLARKE; THIRD
ELIZABETH; FOURTH ELIZABETH PRICE (NO CHILDREN). HE DIED AT THE AGE OF
84. WILL DATED NOV. 13, 1772, AND PROBATED JULY 23, 1774.

John Cook married as a minor with his fathers constent. He served in
the Revolutionary War from South Carolina. He went to Georgia after
the Revolution and settled in Hancock County.
