Durlin “Duke” Reading, 86, formerly of Loveland, died Aug. 20, 2002, in Pueblo.
He was born Dec. 28, 1915, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to John and Elizabeth Hobbs Reading. He married Alvera Berg on April 8, 1936, in Idaho Falls.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 2 years.
He was awarded two Bronze Stars, a Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal.
Mr. Reading was a butcher for Albertson’s in the Loveland area for more than 25 years.
He moved to Pueblo from Loveland about a year ago.
He is survived by a son, Charles D. Reading of Denver; a daughter, Barbara Manzanares of Pueblo; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death on April 6, 2002, by his wife of 64 years, Alvera Reading; a son, Robert Reading; two grandsons; a brother; and five sisters.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loveland.
