Good Morning Listmates,
My genealogical interest in Pueblo County arises principally from the fact
that my paternal grandparents -- John Barton Blackburn (1843-1920) and
Caroline Minerva Sprengle (1859-1941) -- lived there during the later years
of the nineteenth century. Both my father, Frederic Barton Blackburn
(1895-1982), and his younger sister, Florence May Blackburn (1898-1973),
were born during the period of their family's residence in Pueblo.
Also, two of my grandmother's younger brothers resided in Pueblo during
their adult years. They are Joseph Frederick Sprengle (1867-1956), and John
Alta Sprengle (1972-1953). Both are buried in Pueblo County -- Joseph at
Roselawn Cemetery, and John at Valhalla Cemetery.
Finally, Joe Sprengle's two daughters were life-long residents of Pueblo,
and both became high school teachers in the community. They are Eva May
Sprengle (1893-1978), and Dorothy Helen Sprengle (1895-1956).
