Bellinda,
Those are great questions. I am sure somewhere I have more info on the Lee
& Burwell lines of which you speak. I am a descendant of Hancock Lee
through his daughter Anna Lee Armistead. I have limited info on Mary
Armistead entered into my data banks. I know she married Philip Lighfoot
sometime ca. 1720. I also know they had a son named Armistead Lightfoot b.
1739, died Sep 1771 and married 28 Sep 1759 to Anne Burwell, daughter of
Lewis Burwell & Mary Willis.
One of the books I used on this line was:
(_Encylopedia of Virginia Biography_, Tyler, Vol. I, p. 156).
Another was Bishop William Meade, _Old Churches, Ministers, and Families of
Virginia_ (Philadelphia: J.B. Lippincott, 1891), vol. II, p. 290.
Still another was:(_Burwell, Kith & Kin_, Stuart E. Brown, Jr., pp. 8-9).
Hope this helps! Please let me know so that I can update the files!
Thanks
Tricia

Hi, Tricia,
In your information do you, by any chance, have the last name (and parents)
of Susannah ?, the wife of the Phillip/Philip (3) LIGHTOOT that was the son
of
Mary ARMISTEAD-BURWELL, (dau of Anna LEE, dau of Mary KENDALL and Hancock
LEE, and William ARMISTEAD, and Mary's 1st husband was Hon. James BURWELL)
and Phillip/Philip (2) LIGHTFOOT, aka 'The Merchant Prince,' of
Williamsburg, Virginia, son of Alice CORBIN, (dau of Alice ELTONHEAD and
Henry
CORBIN,) and Colonel Phillip/Philip (1) LIGHTFOOT.
And, also, do you show anything regarding the name of the wife of
Colonel Phillip LIGHTFOOT's brother who was Royal Navy sea Captain John (2)
LIGHTFOOT who died in Surinam, West Indies?
They both came to America from England and were the sons of Elizabeth
PHILLIPS and John (1) LIGHTFOOT son of Jane JONES and Reverend Richard
LIGHTFOOT.
Also, trying to place which Susannah ? and husband, Phillip/Philip
LIGHTFOOT,
it was that were living in Antigua bet. 1763 - 1773. Is this the Phillip
(3)
LIGHTFOOT son of Mary ARMISTEAD and Phillip (2) LIGHTFOOT or a different
one?
They appear to have been from Virginia and then when returning to America
went to Georgia. They appear to be related, possibly, to the Henry Benskin
LIGHTFOOT family that were in Antigua at a different time. Just trying to
establish which Phillip and Susannah LIGHTFOOT this was. They are believed
to have children:
Margaret Susannah, born: abt. 1765 in Antigua, Richard and, possibly,
Martha Jane LIGHTFOOT. Margaret Susannah LIGHTFOOT md. COOK/KOCH & CLARK.
Some people think that the Phillip LIGHTFOOT in Antigua was from the
ARMISTEAD and LIGHTFOOT line either the Phillip (3) LIGHTFOOT that some
people show as being deceased too early for that to be the case and some say
just disappeared from records in VA because he was in Antigua or 10
years....or his son. And others say they believe this Phillip LIGHTFOOT is
descended from the Goodrich and Sherwood LIGHTFOOT lines from Capt. John (2)
LIGHTFOOT.
Also, trying to establish where the DORSEY name came from in the name of my
gggg grandmother, Martha Jane Dorsey LIGHTFOOT, born: abt. 1763, either in
VA, poss. in Antigua or onboard the ship to Antigua, (dau of Phillip/Philip
LIGHTFOOT,) possibly the one in Antigua...part of what I'm trying to
establish. Martha Jane Dorsey LIGHTFOOT, md. abt. 1781, to Absalom LOTT,
son
of Elizabeth JOYNER and John LOTT. The DORSEY name might be a clue....or
could be an error but the DORSEY name is connected many times with the
LIGHTFOOT, CORBIN, WORTHINGTON, HOWARD, etc. in 1600's and early 1700's in
Maryland and Virginia.
In advance, I thank you. If you can assist in any way I would be most
grateful.
Sincerely,
Bellinda Myrick Barnett
