Lorraine

Many thanks for your e mail

Roseanna, Rose Hannah or Rosina was my Grandmother, unfortunately she died before I was born

The 1881 Census for Durham as Henry at 34 where as ages given on earlier census returns for Henry Doidge means he could have been 38 or 40, as you said a much younger Rebecca Fry could have been his second wife ( or not )

You would expect to find a marriage from the 1870's so it might not have happened

Best of luck with your searching

Ian

Hello Ian,
FreeBMD has a birth for a Rebecca White Fry at Penzance in 1852, this being
the only one born in Cornwall at the right time.

FreeBMD has a marriage for a Henry Chowen Doidge in Tavistock in 1870, but
the bride seems to be either Emily Ellen Hodge or Mary Emma Witheridge.  He
is the only Henry appearing at that time.

1881 census:  I guess you already know that Henry 34  and Rebecca 26 were
together at Tavistock in 1881, with children Thomas 4 and Rose A,age  3.
Since the older child was only born in 1877, that gives plenty of time for
Henry's first wife to have died or run off.  :)

This Henry may be the one born in 1848 at Tavistock.

1861 and 1871 census:  strangely, there is a younger Henry C living at home
in Tavistock with parents Henry E and Jane, and brother Alfred.

I cant see the family in the 1851 census.

I hope some part of this helps.

best wishes
Lorraine
