Heads up, Wisconsin -- here's another Mineral Point.
This one 1836 (the other was 1840)
Also mentions New York and the two "Canadas"

Any sailors on the list? Can anyone tell us what is meant by a "barque"?
I assume it's a type of ship, but am sure more details would be
appreciated. Any ideas as to how "quick" these voyages likely were in 1836?

Hi Sandy,

A barque was a three masted vessel, square rigged on the fore and the main,
fore and aft rigged on the mizen mast - 'Admiralty Manual of Seamanship,
1915'

There is a picture of a barque in the December 99 CFHS Journal, with the
article on Cornish pioneers of Southeast Wisconsin - I'll email you a copy
of the picture directly. (or even dreckly)

And thanks for the Mineral Point references. I was there with the Redruth
group in September - I'll see that their 'Roots Cellar' in the town library
gets to know.

regards, Mike
