Hello Sue

It's very kind of you to go to such trouble, and I didn't expect anyone to!
Sadly - from your point of view - I've read the Roche PRs and extracted all my
WOONs, BREWERs and other family names, some time ago, and have sorted out most of
the families. The Roche WOONs go back to the marriage of Benjamin WOON and Joane
HALEY 17 Oct 1699 (except that the PRs have her as Joyce).

What I was hoping to find is *proof* that Robert WOON who married Mary BREWER in
Roche in 1811 was the same Robert WOON, chr 1780, Roche, the son of William WOON
and Joan NANKIVELL. The age given at his death and burial don't *quite* equate
with his year of baptism, but of course this doesn't mean anything. I'm almost
sure that this is the same person. A will for William WOON, who died Dec 1786,
would be my best hope. I haven't followed up on that path yet, to know if such a
thing exists.

Anyway, thankyou again for taking the trouble. It's extremely kind of you, and a
much appreciated thought.

PS I may be wrong about this - no doubt somebody will put me right - but I think
it more likely that WARN(E) is a variant of the name WEARNE. Also GOU(D)GE was a
not uncommon name in Roche, and this is certainly what was written in the PRs.

The Phillimore has a gap of marriages between 1632 and 1681.

Benjamin WOON and Joane HALEY 17 Oct 1699

William WOON and Mary GOUGE 10 June 1806 (probably GEORGE)
Robert WOON and Mary BREWER 20 April 1811

Perhaps penmanship or transcriptions errors
made WOON into WARNE.
