Does any person on this list know of a web site, CD, location, etc. that
might give a hint to emigration dates of our forefathers and foremothers.
I have used the Roots Web site for Ship details and while I can find some
of my surname, they are usually coming from Germany. Grrrrr ... So now I
am turning to you instead of surfing the Web in a confused state of mind.
I wrote the address Ian suggests for Emigration that is available on GENUKI
fact filled pages. Thank you, Ian. I am waiting for a response from them.
My folks left after the 1841 and are not on the 1851 English census. I
checked to make sure. I am sure they all were great swimmers or rowers.
If in 1842 they lived in Truro, where would they have "caught the ship" to
leave? Where did those ships dock in the US or Canada? Nova Scotia? New
York? New Orleans? He is spotted in Galena, Ill, which is on the
Mississippi, for one of the censuses.
As always, thank you for any suggestions.
Oh, I just found another connection to English heritage and my husband's
family. My maternal UPCHURCH people lived not thirty miles from husband's
NORRIS people in Hertfordshire at the same time. In the States, our people
lived only 2 miles from each other. Before you ask, he is not my
"whatever" cousin, but that would explain our son's unique behavior.
