Hi Neville

I have found two John Semmenses from Ludgvan. One married Mary Carter
in 1852 in Cornwall, the other died in Melbourne in 1852 aged 55 after
being attacked and robbed of 60 oz of gold.

Regards
Bob

Thanks Bob,

I believe there is a definite connection here with this Semmens family
and
particularly John.

Jane Williams was b.1853, Cornwall, father John Williams. To extent
the
story a bit further - Jane was understood to be working for a
Rowland/s
family and became pregnant aged 16 to a Guy Rowland. This was the
reason for
her to be expediently sent off to SA to be raised by John Semmens/Mary
Williams (I cannot find any marriage for these two).

I have been unable to find any record of children or deaths for John &
Mary.
I have various documents with surnames Semmens, Simmonds, Simmionds,
Simon/s,Symons used at various times. This has made it difficult to
search.

My thoughts on your last para are that Simmonds (or Semmens) are John
& Mary
who were given Elizabeth Sarah to raise.

Regards

Neville
