Hi Peg
The census was supposed to record the people who were living at a
specified house at midnight on the Sunday so the following two dates
were Sunday/Monday for the relevant census years:
1841 6/7 June
1851 30/31 March
1861 7/8 April
1871 2/3 April
1881 3/4 April
1891 5/6 April
1901 31 March/1 April - but we still have to wait awhile to see this cens=
us
100 year rule and all that stuff.
If a person was working nights and would return home the following
morning then he could be included as if he actually slept in the home
at midnight on census night.
Regards
Geoff
