Hello,
I have access to the Callington census returns for 1881 and 1891, plus the 1851
census index, Callington MI's published by the Cornwall Family History Society
and a few other Callington goodies so if you have specific things you'd like
looked up I'd be glad to help.
I don't, however, know what in Callington might have lured your ancestor there
unless he wanted to work in a mine or something. Maybe we yearned to sell
oggies.
I have heard that there was some kind of epidemic which struck the place in
the late 1860's. That might have persuaded him to leave kind of 'all of a
sudden.'
Don't know if the plague was cholera, anthrax, bubonic or just too many of my
ancestors (Wrights) living there at the same time.

Regards,
Rick Elliott
