Good Evening Fellow Cornish Researchers!
Through the recollections of my grandfather (he'll be 93 in May) and our
library's copy of the 1988 IGI, I have traced my SAMPSON line back to
1812 in Penz. This was where Robert, who married Ann WILLIAMS, was
born. Ann was born 1819, also in Penz. Here is a brief lineage:
Robert Sampson (1812 - aft. 1871) married Ann Williams (1819 - aft.
1871), place and date unknown
Son, Robert (1838 - 1896), married Ellen Wade Jackson (1838 - 1909) in
Madron in 1859
*Robert and Ellen immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1881 with their
children, her mother (Martha Jackson - lived to be 92) and her brother
(Richard Jackson)
**Robert was a butcher as was his father before him. The family was
centered in the Hayle/Madron area
Son, Charles (1871 - 1946) married Laura Bertha Transue (1875 - 1958) in
East Stroudsburg, PA, USA, in 1902 - his name may have been Charles
Richard or Richard Charles
Sources: 1871 Cornwall census, my grandfather's notes and my uncle's
baby book
I am searching for the parents of Robert (b. 1812) and Ann WILLIAMS -
hers may be Benjamin and Elizabeth (listed on the census with daughters
born in Penz) - and any other children they may have had (I only have
Robert listed). The JACKSONs were from Devon.
Anyone out there researching these lines? Any help would be
appreciated.
Thank you.
Debbie (in cloudy, cold Kentucky - they're predicting snow tonight)
