Hello all,

I've had an interesting email from a listmember whose Cornish ancestors did
NOT emigrate to America, Australia, NZ, S. Africa, etc.........

........hers emigrated to LEICESTERSHIRE!! Then, a daughter later emigrated
from Leicestershire to Australia!!

Now.......I think this is a point that's easily overlooked, especially with
our clearly global representation on this list!

When the Cornish left Cornwall for various points on the globe....not all
left BRITAIN!
Some obviously stayed closer to home, though I really don't have any
knowledge about this.... Still, I would expect Sharron Schwartz (who is
heading the Cornish Global Migration Programme) would want to know of ALL
those places where Cornish emigrated, wouldn't you?

I know woefully little about other parts of the British Isles, and not much
about Leicestershire, but I know there was mining up in Lancashire...maybe
Yorkshire??..... and mining in Wales.....wouldn't you think there were
Cornish who went to these places?
And I would suspect some who left Cornwall perhaps had some family or
connections elsewhere in Britain, and perhaps they went to jobs other than
mining???

Just a thought. But I think we definitely should not forget about the
Cornish who left Cornwall, but who didn't leave Britain........and I would
think the Cornish Global Migration Programme would want information on
these emigrants as well.

I don't know if Sharron has an email address yet, but Cornish World
Magazine gave the following contact information for her:
Sharron P. Schwartz
Murdoch House
Cross Street,
Redruth TR15 2BU

Best regards,
Sandy
