Judy has graciously identified a JOHN TOY, who was a miner in 1854 in St Ives.
I believe this man to be my g-grfather. JOHN TOY emigrated to the US in
October 1854. He was a miner who settled in Michigan and later in NJ. The
Toy name is not a common one, so if any of you with a connection to this name,
please let me hear from you.
Would you all care to share what St Ives may have been like in 1854?
Barbara Toye in NJ
