Hi David and Loyola,
For what it's worth, I think the world splits neatly into two parts: the
part that has fun and the part that complains about that. You can be in the
middle of the party or you can watch it from behind net curtains (if you
have them in Oz, NZ and the USA) and phone the police about the noise.
I think the recent "we are serious researchers and we like our Cornish
culture dead and well-buried, thanks" posts, complaining about Vegemite and
my pasty recipes, fall clearly in the latter camp. Personally, I think
Vegemite should have a toxic waste sticker on every jar <g>, but I have
enough brain cells to tolerate the debate. I also have enough brain cells to
be able to avoid these posts if I am too busy (spying on neighbours, or
whatever) to check each one. And there's always kill-files on most email
software so you need never see my posts or any other which might remind the
"serious genealogical researchers" that the Cornish want to have a bit of
fun while they trace their families.
I say ignore them and PARTY. But it's what Yvonne (our wise and benign
list-mom) thinks that matters. It's her list.
Cheers from sunny Bodmin,
Jim.
