Hello again,
Does this St. Stephens Parish Church still exist?
This is one of my ancestors HENRY PEDLAR (4th child of JOSEPH PEDLAR &
DINAH VERCOE) was born in Roche, Cornwall England August 28th 1803. Henry
married NANCY MORRISH (daughter of Edward Morrish of St. Stephen's) on
March 21, 1829 in the St. Stephen's Parish Church. Nancy Morrish was born
January 25th 1807. Her father married her mother September 8, 1787 JANE
TRUSCOTT in the same church.
SAMUEL PEDLAR visited the St. Stephen's Parish in 1862. He enjoyed
visiting the spot where his grandparents EDWARD & JANE MORRISH and his
parents HENRY & NANCY PEDLAR were married. The structure being built of
China Clay. Shortly after Henry Pedlar married they moved to St. Blazey.
Nancy his wife took on active part in the Temperance movement. Nancy is
said to have made the first Temperance flag unfurl in the town, St. Blazey.
Her husband carried it at the head of the procession. Henry had a
profitable business in St. Blazey. In 1841 they took passage on the famous
old timber vessel, the barque "Clio" from Padstow for Quebec Canada.
Eventually settling in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.
Is there anyone in relationship to these people? I would really like to
hear from you.
Thanks again.
Lynda G.
