Thanks for your attempt to clear this fog I'm in. I'm really working at
a disadvantage when it comes to the picking of nits. <G> Most of the
information I have concerning the birthplace of these two ancestors is
from other researchers. One happens to be a distant cousin, Jack BUZZA
of Truro, who has done an extensive one-name study of BUZZA. Jack sent
me a listing of what he said was census information about them from
three different census collections; 1841, 1851 and 1861. In those
listings was included "Brn" and a placename. No mention was made as to
whether that placename was a town or a parish.
Paul Brewer was good enough to write explaining to me that no place of
birth was part of census data, which leads me to conclude that Jack
supplied the place names. Jack listed different birthplaces for William
BUZZA on each of three successive census listings, and two places (St.
Ewe & Sticker) on those for Mary Ann JAMES, his wife. Jack did not see
fit to say where he got his information, or whether the place names are
towns or parishes.
The line "Sticker is in the parish of St. Ewe..." was not mine, but was
part of a reply to my original posting. Of course the parish boundaries
may have moved. The question of whether Mary Ann JAMES was born in St.
Ewe or Sticker will remain until I find some documentary evidence.
I really do appreciate all the attempts to help. I have a map of the
ecclesiastical parish boundaries from the Diocesan Record Office in
Truro, dated 1990. Not only does it not show parishes as they were in
the 1800s, but it does not show towns at all, so its only value is in
providing general location and realtionship of parish boundaries. I'm
gaining a better grasp of the complexities of records research in the
