Dear Helen:

What a lovely idea to stay on a little longer and attend Sunday services at
St. Laudus Church in Mabe and I would very much like to join you, especially
since we are probably related. Perhaps others would care to come too. My
ancestors WILLIAM KISTLE and his wife FRANCES RAPSON KISTLE lived in the
Vestry House of the church in the late 1830's and early 1840's and paid
Three Pounds a year in rent. Fanny cleaned the church for sixpence a week
and William was the sexton.

After our long walk there, we can sit on one of the granite benches or the
coffin rest, and watch our ancestors arriving for the service. If I click
on the right place on my little hand-held time machine notebook, perhaps we
can get into the 1880s and filing into church we may see FANNY and JAMES
WINN and their children Emily Jane, William, Nicolas, James, Henry and
George from Halvosso; RICHARD NICHOLS and his family from Palestine; the
BERRYMANs from Potters; the DUNSTANS from Boundies; and the MEDLYNs over
from Goodygrane; as well as all of our ancestors.

My relatives JOHN KISTLE and his sister CHARLOTTE will be there from
Constantine as the Mabe Church is nearer for them They will be bringing
with them their boarder JOSEPH REED, a stonemason, born 1864 in Wendron. I
have often wondered who Joseph was and if he was related. Does anyone know
him?

Warm wishes, Joan
