Regards to your all from Spain.
I am investigating a spanish branch of cornish Tonkin family. My wife and
our four children carried in their veins an important part of this very
good race.
The first Tonkin who stablished here in Spain was Capt. James Tonkin. He
was born at SKIBBEEREN, COUNTY CORK,IRELAND. The date of birth
was,aproximately, the year of 1848. He was son of WILLIAM TONKIN and
MARGARET MORRIS. Father William was born in CORNWALL, but I do not know the
place.
Capt. James Tonkin was the MINE DIRECTOR at THE LINARES MINES in SPAIN. He
married here with a spaniard noble lady creating a cornish/spanish family.
My problem is I can not continue the genealogy because I don´t know the
place in Cornwall where WILLIAM TONKIN was born. And I am tryng in some
INTERNET places of Ireland....but without any reponse. And I am too far of
Skibbeeren to ask a birth certificate of JAMES TONKIN.
Well this is all....is too much.
