Can anyone tell me how to find out about a birth which took place at sea off
or near the Isles of Scilly? The ship was headed for the U.S., I believe.
The child's father was probably Morgan Carkeek, who could, but not
necessarily, have been the ship's Master or Mate. I have no idea what ship
or the exact year. The birth would most likely have been between 1840 and
1850. Also, did all ships from Wales or Cornwall pass the islands on their
way across the Atlantic?
