Subject: Contacting Other Rearchers - Rootsweb PML

Hi All,
Apologies to Yvonne for remaining on the subject, but I have changed
the Subject heading!! :-))
Another avenue for making contact with other researchers is the Rootsweb
Personalized Mailing List (PML) feature. This is a service available to anyone
supporting Rootsweb at Sponsorship level or higher. You can register your
surnames and Rootsweb will automatically forward to you any message
(posted to any archived mailing list, to any GenConnect board, or to the
RootsWeb Surname List) that contains any of your registered surnames.
You do have the capability to exclude specific cases such as mail sent
to/from yourself where your email address contains one of your researched
names! :-))
It has already sent me many useful postings I could otherwise have missed,
both from lists to which I am subscribed and from several to which I am not.
One of the latter put me in touch with someone who referred me to an historian
who has done considerable documented research on my extensive AGAR family
in Yorkshire. It not only confirmed a lot of my research, often using different
sources, but added another 2 generations prior to 1550 Pure gold!!!
This alone has been worth the sponsorship subscription many times over
even without the lists to which I subscribe. And perfect for times when you
have to unsubscribe for a while due to holidays, etc, but don't want to miss
anything re your own research. For details, see http://pml.rootsweb.com/
I can not recommend it more strongly. And you incidentally help Rootsweb
stay in business through your sponsorship.
Cheers,
Liz in seriously wintry Melbourne
