Hello all!
I haven't posted this is a long time because life got away from me. Now
that I am done with school for a bit, I have a little time to poke around. I
have managed to stay in touch this year because of the digest version, which
saved me - I strongly recommend it!
I am looking for bits and pieces of my family. Right now, I need recent
(as in after 1880) or rather early (before 1800) for my family. I also have
some mysteries to solve. One of those is about my greatgreat grandfather,
William Williams CADDY, who was illegitimate. This was in Marazion/St.Hilary
parish. His mother Catherine CADDY was the youngest of 5 children of John and
Christian TREDREA CADDY. Catherine's oldest sister,Elizabeth married a John
WILLIAMS. Now for the mystery: Catherine had William, who was christened in
1818 as "William WILLIAMS" and later took CADDY. This indicates that his
father was single, then either died or married someone else. In 1823, John
and Elizabeth CADDY WILLIAMS (the older sister to Catherine) had Elizabeth
christened and on the same day, Catherine CADDY had John "WILLIAMS or CADDY"
christened, listing the father as John WILLIAMS. A little over a year later,
John and Elizabeth CADDY WILLIAMS had their own John christened and on the
same day, Catherine CADDY had James "WILLIAMS or CADDY" christened, naming
John WILLIAMS as the father. John and Elizabeth had more children, but no
more was known until Catherine died Aug. 20, 1832. To further compound this,
all in this same little parish, William WILLIAMS CADDY went on to marry Eliza
WILLIAMS, daughter of Richard WILLIAMS in 1840, in St. Hilary. I think that
Gaynor had some things on this, but I lost the address.
I am also looking for BOND family, FLOYD family in the Gwinnear/Phillack
Ludgvan, etc. areas. THOMAS, PEARCE and BENNETTS all were in StokeClimsland
around 1860-1880, although only PEARCE seems to go back earlier than 1860 in
that area. CADDY, TREDREA, WALKER, PHILLIPS in the Sithney, Crowan, Wendron,
Cury, Helston areas.
I also need to find John CADDY born about 1764 in those areas. I have
more, but that's enough. Anybody?
