Hello Kylie,
My mother (born 1920) lived at 94 Moorland Rd in the late 1920's and the
family left in 1931 (family name was WELCH). Her sister was born at that
address in June 1930 so must have been a contemporary of your father's! You
didn't mention your father's name. Mum remembers the CROCKERs lived at no.
96, and there was also a family called GROWDEN (Mr. Growden had a
fascinating butterfly collection apparently), and a family called DUNN
there, but she's not sure which houses they lived in. Nos. 94 & 96 were
attached together, small cottages, 3 bedrooms up & 2 rooms down. The houses
nearby were similar, and those flats you mentioned were not built until the
40's, probably after the war (they also swallowed up no. 94). Mum went to
Central School (primary school) in West Hill so that is probably where your
Dad went if he still lived there. Let me know your Dad's name, and I'll see
if it rings a bell with my Mum . .
